To and from work, I've been listening to The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Several people suggested it, so I checked it out of the library, figuring it couldn't hurt. The author, while quirky, has some good advice for those of us who are cleaning-impaired, but she doesn't have an answer to every organizational problem. Such as . . .
Where is my Lazy-Kate?! It's the thing that holds the bobbins full of spun singles while you ply them together. Mine looks like this . . .
Have you seen it? It was in the front room last month. It's always in the front room, where the spinning wheel lives. It's not small, it's not flat, it is an awkward thing that couldn't just slip under/behind/between other things. I suppose the author would say that if I followed all of her steps, things would be where they belong, including the Lazy-Kate, but I don't have time for that. I've got yarn to spin.
All it took was a box, a knitting needle, a piece of plastic wrapped around the needle to protect it from the oil inside the bobbin, and five minutes to put it together. And do you know what? It actually works better than the one that is lost.
Twinkle likes it, too.
