Funding was found, and I am back at school. Happily, I'm working with the same teachers, with a move to fourth grade this year. Two weeks in, a routine is falling into place. I do love rhythm.
Part of the flow is working on this tunic for a few minutes each morning. It has been with me for several years. Compliments do not pour in when I wear it, if anything, eyebrows go up. The guys think it makes me look like an Art Teacher. I take it as a compliment, although they didn't mean it that way. I don't care. I wear it with jeans, love the warmth and softness of the corduroy, the deep pockets, the comfort and security of feeling covered, and its slate blueness. Sadly, it's wearing out and a smidge too tight in the shoulders.
The sleeves and collar have been cut away. I drew a cutting line on one side, and used the cut off pieces to trace the other side.
The skirt of another old dress was cut on the bias into strips to make a new neckline, and I'll do the same for the arm holes.
The underarms show the most wear.
So, now I'm stitching pieces of the sleeves over the see-through thinned areas.
After the armholes, there are still a few more spots to strengthen. I hope this works, because I think I'm more in love than ever.
