Another nice Christmas Day (and day after). Blue painted the above for me. It's of the island where, over the last decade, we have enjoyed a lot of time at a friend's cabin. The cabin recently sold, and we're all sad and miss it, but so glad for the memories of our time there. This little painting will help us to hold onto them.
Someone asked me recently if we had holiday traditions? A favorite is one that K does every year. He goes to one of those pottery painting places and makes an ornament for each of the boys that represents something that was important to them during the last year. Here are this year's...
Blue's High School colors and Monogram.
Some of the others have included favorite baseball teams, piano keys, a saxaphone, a train and Monopoly. They're especially wonderful because, (and K would be the first to tell you) K does not have much of an artistic or small motor skill bent. He once told me (while trying to do a cross-stitch for his dad (which I secretly did half of when he wasn't looking), that he thought that if prisoners were forced to do handwork, they would never do anything that might send them back to jail.
We're off to the relatives for a few days.
I hope you are all enjoying your own happy traditions.
