At the doctor's today.
The assistant taking my blood pressure said, "That's a weird little bracelet."
"Thanks?"
Later the doctor came in, "Did one of the boys make that for you?"
"Nope, I did."
"Oh. " (awkward pause) "Is it to hold sewing tools?"
"Nope."
"Just for decoration?"
"Yep."
"Oh."
Now, I'll admit that it's been worn a lot since it was made last year (here and here), and it's a bit shabby and scraggly. And I'll admit that I am not fashion aware, or care to be.
But, my question is, who raised these people?!? Why comment on something you clearly don't like, that clearly the person wearing it does (or why would she be wearing it)?
There was no way I was even going to try to explain the meaning behind it.
All I could think was "Huh."*
