This is evidence that I need (ok, really really want) a spinning wheel with a bigger bobbin, to spin fluffy art yarns. I had to shove and crank and swear to get the whole batt on there. I made lots of frustrated noise, and made K come look at it, hoping for a "Why don't you get another wheel?". No such luck. Clearly I will need to be more dramatic next time.
This was a "O 68, Bingo!" batt from LushMommy. It was purchased during her Beach Blanket Bingo Party this summer. She had mailed out Bingo cards and markers to those who wanted to play. Then at a designated time, we all went on-line in a chat room on Ravelry and watched the screen for the "call out" of the squares. There was a lot of silly party chatter, too. The boys and I played along, we even won some fiber! Lunch was an hour late, because we couldn't tear ourselves away from the fun.
Here it is off the TOO SMALL bobbin. Look how happy it is with room for its squishiness to poof out.
Spinning these bursting with texture, fiber and color batts is like reading a really good story. You're never sure what is coming next, the characters all have distinct personalities, and watching them interact with each other brings so many surprises. There, in the middle, are some of my favorite moments- that swirly golden puff and the silky pink twisted with sparkle.
A party for the hands and eyes!
