It's been a hustle bustle day, in the whirlwind of the last couple of weeks so much has been neglected at home. Laundry, piles, dust bunnies all needed dealt with, and most importantly, Blue comes home tonight and will need a bedroom. Moon had moved into Blue's old room a couple of weeks ago and left behind all kinds of teenage boy mess to deal with before Blue's things could be brought in.
Skipping my usual post Saturday breakfast stitching time, we all scrubbed, swept, and shuffled mattresses, boxes, etc. much of the day. After hours of scurrying, I was getting grumpy (because we are still "not those people"). But then, when washing Blue's bedding, I found a big tear in his comforter cover. I've never been so glad to see a rip in my life.
"Yes! Something that must be stitched right now!" and sat down to mend it up, very grateful for the needed task.
Everything is together enough now. Digging through his boxes, I found his favorite books and put them next to his bed. He first read them around age ten, and I just love that he still rereads these dragon stories whenever he's home.
Only a few more hours until he's here...gosh it will be good to see his face after four months. Moon has registered a formal complaint that I won't let the tree be decorated until tomorrow, when we're all home. Not knowing how many more times we'll be able to do it together, I want to hold on to whatever traditions I can.
Wishing you all some peace and stitch filled moments in this busy time of year...
