Before we painted Moon's bedroom, I had asked him if there was anything I could make him for Christmas, that he would actually wear. "A hat made of skinny yarn, that's soft and the same color my new room will be." Ok, easy-peasy. I went yarn shopping for the paint color he chose ("Jay"), there was a skein that looked just right and it was called "Jay Blue". Perfect.
A week later, half way through the hat, while painting the room, before I quit and let K. step in (in my defense- I did last two days doing a task I really dislike with a moody teenager), Moon began going on about the blue not being quite right. This was ignored and the painting (and knitting) continued.
After both were finished, I could see the jay blues weren't quite the same, and asked what kind of blue he had hoped for? "Recycle can blue."
He's happy enough with his room, and the hat is done, and look...
I'm calling this one a win.
